This workshop takes you through the various stages of turning wool into felt with simple equipment and hands on methods. Discover surface design using fabrics, yarns, prefelted shapes etc to create texture and design. Learn about different wools and their uses & experiment with colour blending. Add 3D effects to your finished sample

NUNO FELTING

This is cobweb fine felt using a minimum of wool for maximum effect for those luxurious lightweight wraps etc using silk, tuille, muslin and Merino wool in pastels, naturals and gem bright colours for your own one-off original creation.

STENCILLING ON FABRIC & TRAPUNTO QUILTING

Having owned a specialist Stencilling business in the UK I created my own designs and still fall back on them for repeatable designs on and original theme. Trapunto Quilting raises the design adding another dimension and opens up possibilities for many new and exciting projects.

If making your own beads appeals this is for you. Try this alternative material and method to create an unusual & original effect ready to make into jewellery or accessories for one off & unique creations.

FUSCHIAS I have been making these since I discovered silk cocoons which visitors to the studio have an equal fascination for often seeing them for the first time. In white (natural) or a variety of bright colours. I have tried dyeing them with great results for repeat colours and the Fuschia on my business card and used for my original designs has been commented on and complimented many, many times. With its flower in pink & purple cocoons, leaves from felt, & stamens with beads attached this 3D likeness is a great addition to any project.

Bring a friend/s and allow 4-5 hours for a workshop. Cost $80 per person includes all materials.

I hope I have succeeded in making available a variety of textile arts for you to choose from but if you are unable to travel to the studio I am happy to negotiate bringing the workshop to teach groups with suitable space available.
